Michael Chletsos holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Picardie - France. He is a Professor of Economic Analysis at the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus in Greece. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Master’s Program "Economics of Education and Management of Educational Units" and the Director of the Master’s Program "Public Health and Policies" at the Hellenic Open University. Previously, he was the Director of the joint Master’s Program "Managing Aging and Chronic Diseases" between the Hellenic Open University and the University of Thessaly.

Dr. Chletsos has taught at the University of Crete, University of Thessaly, and University of Ioannina for over 25 years. He has been teaching at the Greek Open University "Master Program in Health Economics" for many years and currently teaches at the "Master Program of Public Health and Policies".

He has held various administrative positions, including Head of the Department at the University of Ioannina from 2004 to 2008 and Vice-Head of the Department until 2017. He was also a member of the Deanship of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Ioannina.

Additionally, he served as the Director of the Master's Program
"Economic Analysis and Policy" at the University of Ioannina from 2003 to 2009 and from 2011 to 2019. He also held the position of Director of the Laboratory of Applied Economic and Social Policy at the University of Ioannina and Director of the Directorate of Research of the Employment Observatory Research Informatics Sa.

Dr. Chletsos has extensive research interests focused on labor economics, public economics, economics of social protection, health economics, and economics of poverty and income inequalities. He is currently working on projects related to the cost of disability, integration of vulnerable persons into the labor market, and health inequalities. He has participated in numerous international and national projects, collaborating with organizations such as the World Health Organization and serving as a national expert for the Greek case in projects financed by Cedefop.

He has authored and co-authored books, published studies, and academic papers in various fields, including labor economics, health economics, public economics, economics of social protection, and economics of poverty and income inequalities. Dr. Chletsos is a co-author of the book "Strategic Management and Economics in Health Care" and "Management and Economics of Educational Units” both published by Springer Publications and author of several books published in the Greek language by Patakis Publisher. Additionally, he is the author of the books "Economic Analysis of the Health System" and "Public Health and Challenges", both
of which will be published in Greek in 2024 by Papazissis Publisher.
