Prof. Yannis Pollalis, Director



Yannis PollalisYannis Pollalis has served as a professor in the Department of Economic Science since 1999. He holds a PhD in Business Strategy & Management Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business, an MBA with majors in Finance & Operations Management from the University of Scranton’s Kania Graduate School of Management, and a BSc in Economics from the University of Piraeus. During 1993-1998 he held the position of professor of Strategic Information Systems at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies.

He is the founder (2001) & director of the M.Sc. Program in Economic & Business Strategy at the University of Piraeus in Greece. He is also the founder (2017) & director of the Research & Training Center in Digital Transformation & Strategic Leadership (iLEADS Lab). Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Department of Economics, 2022-2025.

In the Greek public & private sectors, he currently holds positions as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors & Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB). Additionally, from 2020 to 2022 he chaired the Committee for the “New Development Law 4887/2022” (Ministry of Development & Investments). He has provided consultancy services for numerous projects related to strategic business planning, reengineering, and e-procurement. Furthermore, he has actively contributed as a Keynote & Motivational Speaker, offering expertise in Strategy, Marketing & Branding, Leadership, E-Business, Digital Transformation, Growth Mindset, Motivation, Emotional Intelligence, and Train-the-Trainer workshops.

Professor Pollalis is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, as well as executive development and training courses, and has been honored with multiple Teaching Excellence Awards. He is also an accomplished author, having published 18 books covering a wide range of topics including management, strategic planning, information management, e-business, marketing, organizational behavior, and corporate strategy. His research has received funding from prestigious organizations such as The Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, NATO’s Science & Research Program, and the European Network for SMEs Research. Additionally, he has served on the editorial boards of The International Journal of Information Management and The Journal of Marketing & Operations Management Research.
