Yiannis Smirlis
Dr. Yiannis Smirlis studied Mathematics (University of Athens), Computer Science (University of London) and received a PhD in Data analysis from Dept. of Statistics, University of Piraeus. For approx. 30 years, he worked as IT manager, participating in large IT, R&D and data analysis projects, being also board member of public IT organizations.
He served as Director of National Center of Public Administration-Institute of Training. From 2016 is an adjunct lecturer in School of Economics, Business and International Studies, University of Piraeus teaching statistics,
business analytics and information systems in both graduate and postgraduate level.
His research has been applied on the fields of performance/efficiency measurement, business analytics, operational research and statistics. The focus of his expertise is on developing composite and key performance indicators, handling imprecise data and modelling problems with linear programming. His published scientific work includes over 60 journal - conference papers that received over 1100 citations and 2 books.
